More Tools and Wizards
In addition to the Image tools above, the 'Tools' Menu has an FTP Explorer,Task Manager a Notebook, color editor,MP3 Tags,HTML Compressor,a place to store store favorite URLS and email addressees. There is also a tool called "Body Grabber", browse to an HTML file and click on it,and the <Body> info is copied and pasted into your page.
In the 'Tools' menu you also can set access 'Preferences' where you can set your choices for how the editor behaves, like whether to use drag and drop editing, auto indenting, highlighting colors, font, XML or HTML,case of tags and the like.
There is an 'AutoFunctions' Tab,where you can configure 'Auto Complete'combinations <html> = <html> </html> [Where "" = place of the cursor.] Pressing Shift+Space to execute the AutoComplete. You can make your own AutoFunctions .
A similar feature is "AutoCorrect". Here, you can make functions to correct some common errors, for instance you <ahref> can turn into the correct <A Href> on mouse down.
There is the "Completion Proposal",whenever you start typing a tag, a little window appears just to the right of your cursor
The list acts just like the auto complete in your browser,it follows what you type and offers shows all elements that match what you've entered.
If you type in <HTML> hit ctr + space and it turns into <HTML> </HTML>
The Help File menu has 12 items named(HTML,CSS,ASP,PHP,XHTML,XML,JavaScript,VBScript, PERL,CGI,SQL,JAVA,) you can set those links to your favorite sources, additionally there are four blank menu listings you can set as you please. A Help File is one thing that HTMLGate is missing.
The "FastEdit" tab gives you a WYSIWYG way to work on your page, you can set it to ask whether to apply changes in the 'FastEdit' mode to the 'CodeEdit' mode. I'd need a little more time working with the 'FastEdit' mode to formulate an opinion on how well it works (I could've used a little help file here).
Below are Wizards to set block divisions and Flash files.

There are many 'wizards' like the ones above.

| I've only used it for a day or so,sometimes it takes a while before quirks and flaws show, but I really liked this editor.
As for the 'FastEdit' feature, I'll have to use it some more before I can draw any conclusions.
If you're not accustomed to your actions triggering an editor to enter items on your page ,it can be a little perplexing.
When I first tried using the Color Selector, I was trying to get it to freeze on one color, (without success, I don't think it supposed to) , next thing I know I've got about 20 color codes pasted on the page.
You also have to be aware of where the focus is or you may wipe out stuff you've already done. I'm so used to using one particular editor, that I often lose patience working with a new one no matter how good it is,but I managed to hang with HTMLGate Free long enough to make this page. Of course, once posted online,it probably won't look anything like it does here on my computer. MarkB | ||||
The author states that: Quote: "There will be no further support for HTMLGate since my plan is to start rewrite it. "

Cook's Rut?
FlashCooker is in the process of moving to new location .
Some links to the old site are being redirected already ,bear with us.
The move is to a new format (new to us at least) ,a Drupal content management system (CMS) to leave comments you'll need to sign up (unless you're a member of a drupal site already.)
If interested in adding more than comments ,to the FlashCooker, read Contribuitions .
I think you're gonna like the new site it's easier on the eyes than the old wiki, plus navigating FC's pages will be much improved as we can now link to items in mid page (much cooler than saying "Take a right turn at "Flash Examples" and scroll down three quarters a page...")
If you're familiar with Crazy Ivans Gif2Swf 2.1, you know that $10 for an app that can convert gif images into swf flash file is a good deal.
Doing some FlashCooker shopping a little while back, I came by a link (maybe the last?) for Gif2Swf 1.02 the last freeware version.
BTW the link is to the downloading page (mirrors) on Simtels.
